Every start, in order
Course files, June 2027
Download the GPS tracks and look at the ground before you come. Measured distances differ slightly from the advertised ones.
13 km road race
Porto Katsiki to Vasiliki, all on tarmac, with one hard climb in the first half.
10 km mountain race
The short loop above the bay, on trail and dirt track.
20 km mountain race
The long ridge loop, the most climbing on the programme.
20 km mountain race
A measured 20.27 kilometres and 920 metres of climbing, the hardest race on the programme.
You leave the harbour, climb through the pine above Kontarena and stay high on the ridge before the long descent back to the water. The steepest ground comes in the first half.
The 10 km race starts at the same time and uses the lower part of the same ground, so the ridge is busy by mid morning.
Walking the steepest section.
Diathlo and the road race
The first day has two faces: a swim in from Agiofili and a long descent from Porto Katsiki.
For the diathlo a boat takes you out to Agiofili, you swim around the headland and run 3500 metres back into Vasiliki. The water there is clear and deep close to the rocks.
At 18:00 the 13 km road race starts at Porto Katsiki, the most photographed beach on Lefkada, and finishes at the harbour as the light drops. Measured climb is 396 metres.
Rounding the headland off Agiofili.

June weather
Mornings are cool and the wind off the bay usually picks up after eleven. In the afternoon the sun sits on the road down from Porto Katsiki, which is why that race starts at six.
